Iwan has recently been appointed as the new Deputy Chief Executive of Adra, with responsibility for the organisation’s growth programme. He has a strong interest in innovation, with a close relationship with all the key players in the innovation sector throughout the UK, especially with organisations such as Innovate UK, Higher and Further Education, and the new regional economic partnerships in Wales. Some of the previous posts held by Iwan are listed below:
- Corporate Director in Gwynedd Council for over 15 years, and providing professional leadership to a number of key services within the Authority, including Education, Highways, Transportation, Planning and Economic Development;
- Appointed the professional lead for the North Wales Economic Ambition Board in 2015, establishing the partnership and co-ordinating its innovative work programme, working in a new way with the private sector and higher education to develop and deliver strategic projects;
- Co-ordinated the development of the £1.1 billion North Wales Growth Deal which has been ground breaking for the region, working closely with the UK Government, the Welsh Government, the private sector and the 6 Leaders of the Local Authorities in North Wales;
- Held positions as Chair of a number of Partnerships, including North Wales Skills and Employment Partnership, Gwynedd and Mon Children Safeguarding Board and Children and Young Partnership for Gwynedd;
Chairman of “Gafael Llaw”, a charity established to improve services and care for children and young people suffering from cancer in North Wales, which has raised over £400,000 through different activities.
